There are different types of scars. Hypertrophic scars, formed by an overproduction of collagen, appear to be red, raised lumps on the skin, like keloid scars. Atrophic scars are sunken into the skin where underlying tissues have been destroyed, as in some kinds of acne scars.
The Lumenis® laser creates microscopic channels that break down the fibers in the scar and trigger the production of new collagen and elastic fibers, while leaving some unaffected skin in between the channels to reduce healing time. The result is deep dermal regeneration that dramatically improves the elasticity and appearance of your scar. At least, 2 to 3 treatments are required for desired results.
Up to 14 days.
The Cynosure Icon laser scar treatment uses short pulses of micro-fine laser light to reach deeply into the skin’s sub-layers, treating the support structure. Then the body’s natural healing process sweeps away older, damaged tissue and rebuilds it with fresh, new collagen and elastin—the crucial building blocks of normal-looking skin. It’s a fast and simple procedure that’s easy to tolerate and requires little-to-no downtime. Approximately, 4 to 6 treatments are required for desired results.
Up to 48 hrs.
